Welcome to the SI Santa Barbara. We are excited and honored to be your co-Presidents for 2011-2012. Our goal is to continue our strong club's goal of achieving the strategic plan of Soroptimist International of the Americas in becoming a “Renaissance” region. Our mission is to improving the lives of women and girls locally, nationally, and throughout the world.
Our signature project is Safety Town which has been organized and in operation for over 30 years. In recent years, we have developed a scholarship program with grant funding from local foundations, allowing us to reach many more children who more broadly represent the community. Our awards and recognition program for woman and girls in the community places the spotlight on individuals who are making a difference. This year we will be looking at the success of some of these women as they continue to improve the lives of woman locally and aboard. Read about this under Award Programs.
Soroptimist International uses its official status with the United Nations to advocate on behalf of women’s issues. Our club is involved in programs that raise our awareness of issues facing women and we look for opportunities to make a difference abroad.
