SISB Members Attend Fall Workshop

At her beautiful home, Vice President, Kristina Eriksen hosted a Holiday Tea and PARTY WITH A PURPOSE,  a fundraiser for Trades of Hope, an international organization aimed at economic development for low income women.

Close to 150 people attended this event , including Regional Club members and  individuals from the community. 

The Camino Real Region Fall Workshop  was filled with inspiring speakers and some unexpected technical difficulties.  Past SIA President Cheri Fleming updated us on federation activities and congratulated the region for our successes, especially in membership. Committee Chairs for Live Your Dream, Fundraising, Dream it, Be it, Membership, Nominations, and Celebrating Success gave reports.  Jayne Brechwald presented to the 100+ Soroptimist members on the International Conference in Istanbul.The keynote speaker and past president Cathie Stanford from Desert Coast gave an arousing presentation on CHANGE. The Action template for change is evaluate, do it, plan it, execute it, evaluate it again, and celebrate it. Fun was had by all.

The Painted Cabernet  in Oxnard to raise money for the STOP TRAFFICKING  

event to happen in March, 2016.

Donnalyn donated hundreds of ceramic pieces she made.  Jayne was the highest bidder for one of her masterpieces.

Team Soroptimist

Heart& Stroke Walk,  Sept 26, 2015.


Nearly 600 students  attended one of 10 one-week sessions this summer at 5 elementary schools in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.  2015 marked 40 years that this program has taught preschoolers all aspects of safety including: vehicle, bus riding, bicycle and pedestrian safety, beach and water safety,  and  fire hazards and protection. "Good touch, bad touch" child abuse prevention is an important part of the curriculum.

SISB members attended the annual Spring Conference in Pasadena on May 13-15. President Donnalyn  accepted several awards given to SISB including the Stop Trafficking award,  Celebrating Success for Safety Town,  and the Live Your Dream Award for the local winner of LYD Amanda  Johnson-Albino

who was unable to attend.
