Soroptimist International is a volunteer service organization for professional women who work together on projects that will improve the lives of women and girls. The Soroptimist vision is a world in which women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and to live their dreams. We work to achieve that vision through programs leading to social and economic enpowerment.

The first Soroptimist club was founded in Oakland, CA in 1921. Since then it has grown to a global network with clubs in over 130 countries, each working  to improve the lives of women and girls. Our local club has worked towards that goal since we were chartered in 1955 through May 2017. Though no longer an active club,  our signature club project, Safety Town, continues to serve the community.

Through our efforts, we have made Santa Barbara and surrounding communities places where women and girls could achieve their full potential.
